We all have heard of Carla Zampatti, The Australian iconic fashion designer, if you haven’t please allow me to acquaint you.

In 1972, Carla opened her first fashion boutique in Surry Hills, Sydney Australia.  The following years saw more Carla Zampatti boutiques growing to 30 locations nationally including entry into David Jones and Myers.

Soon after came several perfumes released to the market, the collaboration with Ford Australia to design cars, Australian and International awards for excellence  including The Australian Fashion Laureate, designing of the Australia Post corporate wear, appointed Commander in the Order of Merit of The Italian Republic, Director roles including NSW Art Gallery and chairman of SBS Corporation.

So to say in the least, this woman exerts an astounding creative ability matched by a shrewd business mind with a determination packed on steroids. I recently met Carla when she was a guest speaker at the Adelaide Art Gallery. I saw immediately why she had such a respectable, great and successful career in fashion. I found her to be incredibly witty yet intelligent, a wonderful and refreshing combination, especially when she laughed at my jokes. We spoke about my new fashion tech start-up being launched in February 2015 that offers fashionistas (anyone and everyone who loves fashion or creative things), fashion students, emerging designers, fashion suppliers and professionals the opportunity to design their own fashion collections. The new to market technology is an incredibly user-friendly website giving you access anywhere at any time. Packed with loads of features including a social networking facility, global directory of fashion suppliers, professionals and aligning industries and education lectures and forums.

I loved that Carla listened to my development and agreed to meet with me around the time of launch. This displayed to me that she is forever looking, learning and interested in new technology and developments. This is most definitely the reason for her success that has spanned a 50 year successful career in a cut-throat competitive industry. Salute to ‘The Godmother of Australian Fashion’.
