The Best and Fairest of Mercedes Fashion Week

Another year of fashion has commenced and the Australian designers have delivered a diverse style of collections at Mercedes Fashion week.

The Spring Summer 2015 collections displayed quirky design and culture.

There are always the distinct features presented throughout the collections. These consisted of monochrome palettes, your must haves black, whites, greys and all the colours that mix in between, a definite edge of masculinity, sheer sexy yet respectable waistlines, intense graphics, heavy embellishments and the return of the rubbery wetsuit material so many of us are still trying to comprehend.

I certainly believe the ultimate highlights of the week were ‘We Are Handsome’s’ vibrant show presenting incredible pythons; the dynamic appeal of Carla Zampatti’s monochromatic collection, Alex Perry’s younger aspirational collection reflecting the theme of prom and bold colours, Aurelio Costarella’s embellished features and Toni Maticevski’s couture gowns nailing the art of the wetsuit craftsmanship.

All in all I would say that us Australian designers are kicking absolute ass on the innovative international front. I am incredibly proud to see our creative geniuses following their true direction and own personal signature. after all we are all unique, why follow anyone else!
